Sex Drive

Sex Drive is a 2008 American comedy about Ian Lafferty, an eighteen-year-old from Chicago who has grown tired of being mocked by his older brother Rex and overshadowed by his younger sibling's romantic success. After a string of rejections, Ian meets a woman online who agrees to meet him, though she lives roughly 500 miles away in Knoxville, Tennessee. He takes Rex's car and sets out on the road with his best friend Lance and his neighbour Felicia, and the trip turns into a long, chaotic journey full of odd encounters and obstacles.

The film was directed by Sean Anders, who also co-wrote it with John Morris. It was the first feature Anders directed, ahead of films including That's My Boy, Horrible Bosses 2, Daddy's Home and its sequel, Instant Family and Spirited. Josh Zuckerman plays Ian, with Amanda Crew as Felicia, Clark Duke as Lance and James Marsden as Rex. Alice Greczyn and Seth Green also appear among a credited cast of 61. Made for a budget of 19 million US dollars, it took in about the same amount worldwide.

Audience responses were moderate and consistent: on IMDb it holds 6.5 out of 10 from around 96,000 votes, and on TMDB 6.4 out of 10 from a much smaller number of votes. A critics' rating of 5.4 out of 10 across 109 reviews places it somewhat below the audience scores. The film runs 109 minutes and blends adventure, comedy and romance.
