Crossing Over

Crossing Over follows a group of immigrants in Los Angeles as they try to secure legal status in the United States, and the immigration officers whose job is to enforce the law. Max Brogan is an enforcement agent who finds it hard to treat the people he detains as cases rather than individuals, while an Iranian-born colleague works to prove his American credentials to his family. Around them, a lawyer defends those facing removal, a young Jewish man uses his parents' faith to find work, and a supervisor with power over green cards exploits an Australian woman seeking to stay in the country. Their stories intersect as the price of a new life becomes clear.

Wayne Kramer wrote and directed the film, his third feature after The Cooler and Running Scared, and produced it with Frank Marshall. Harrison Ford heads the cast as Brogan, with Ray Liotta, Alice Eve, Ashley Judd, Jim Sturgess and Cliff Curtis in supporting roles, part of a credited cast of 34. The production had a budget of 25 million dollars and returned about 1 million dollars worldwide, a small fraction of its cost.
