Salman, a man with little direction in life, moves in with his sister-in-law Leslie while her husband serves in Iraq. He is meant to help look after her two young sons, but his presence is more of a strain than a support, and Leslie struggles to keep the household running on her own. With money running short, Salman takes the only job he can get: wearing a large blue mascot costume for a technology company, a role that leaves him anonymous and exposed to ridicule while he tries to hold the family together.
Kabluey is a comedy-drama written and directed by Scott Prendergast, who also plays Salman. It was his first feature as director, and it came after a run of short films. Lisa Kudrow plays Leslie, with Christine Taylor, Conchata Ferrell, Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Angela Sarafyan in supporting roles. The film was produced by Rick Rosenthal, Douglas J. Sutherland and Rhoades Rader through Whitewater Films, and runs 86 minutes.
On IMDb, the film holds a rating of 6.5 from around 4,700 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 6.1 from a much smaller pool of about 68 votes. A critics' rating of 6.8 from 35 reviews places it slightly above what general audiences recorded. The gap between the two audience figures reflects how few people have logged it on TMDB compared with IMDb.
