Winged Creatures begins with a shooting at a Los Angeles diner, where a gunman kills patrons and staff before turning the weapon on himself. A handful of people survive, among them a waitress, a gambler, a doctor and a young girl. None of them know one another beforehand, yet the attack links their lives. In the aftermath each copes badly in a different way: the doctor grows uncertain of his own judgment, the gambler becomes convinced his luck has turned, the waitress withdraws into reckless behavior, and the girl, whose father died in the diner, is thrust into public attention she never sought. Those close to the survivors are drawn into the fallout as well.
The film was directed by Rowan Woods from a screenplay by Roy Freirich, with Robert Salerno producing, and it runs 95 minutes. Kate Beckinsale plays Carla Davenport, Forest Whitaker plays Charlie Archenault, Guy Pearce plays Dr Bruce Laraby and Dakota Fanning plays Anne Hagen, with Jeanne Tripplehorn and Embeth Davidtz also in the credited cast of 45. It is an American crime drama released in 2009.
On IMDb the film holds a critics' rating of 4.7/10 from 31 reviews, while on TMDB it rates 5.9/10 from 159 votes, so audiences have responded somewhat more warmly than reviewers.
