Bastards

Marco Silvestri, a ship captain, returns to Paris following the suicide of his brother-in-law and the collapse of his family's business. His sister, Sandra, blames a powerful businessman named Edouard Laporte for their misfortune, including the psychiatric hospitalization of her daughter. Seeking revenge, Marco moves into an apartment building inhabited by Laporte's mistress, Raphaëlle. As Marco becomes romantically involved with Raphaëlle, he discovers that Sandra has been hiding secrets that complicate his quest for retribution.

The crime thriller was directed by Claire Denis and co-written by her and Jean-Pol Fargeau. It is the eighth of 15 films directed by Denis, following 35 Shots of Rum and preceding Venice 70: Future Reloaded. The cast features Vincent Lindon as Marco, Chiara Mastroianni as Raphaëlle, and Julie Bataille as Sandra, with Michel Subor playing Edouard Laporte.
