Three friends in their thirties decide to make up for the spring break they missed when they were younger. When Becky, who works for a powerful senator, is asked to keep an eye on her boss's daughter Lindsay at a college vacation spot, she and her friends Gayle and Judi see their chance to join the party themselves. What they find is that Lindsay and her crowd are not quite the wild revellers they expected.
Spring Breakdown is a 2009 comedy directed by Ryan Shiraki, who wrote the screenplay with Rachel Dratch. It was Shiraki's second feature as director, following Home of Phobia. Dratch stars alongside Amy Poehler and Parker Posey as the three friends, with Amber Tamblyn as the senator's daughter; Seth Meyers and Will Arnett appear in supporting roles. The production, made by Code Entertainment, had a budget of 12 million dollars. Reviews were mixed to negative, with a critics' score of 5 out of 10 from 12 reviews.
The film's reception among general audiences was also tepid. On IMDb it holds 4.8 out of 10 from around 4,900 votes, while on TMDB it has 5.5 out of 10 from a much smaller pool of 106 votes. The modest scores and limited vote counts suggest a comedy that found little traction with viewers.
