Short description

Two brothers, on either side of the law, face off over organized crime in Brooklyn during the 1970s.

What's left behind the scenes

  • Clive Owen could have been cast in the role, but the actor was forced to decline participation in the film due to commitments to another project.
  • Filming took place in May-June 2012 and lasted 42 days.
  • This is the second film featuring Guillaume Canet titled "Blood Ties". In the first film "Blood Ties" (2008), he only appeared as an actor, while he directed the second one himself.
  • Matthias Schoenaerts was cast after appearing with Marion Cotillard (director Guillaume Canet's girlfriend) in Jacques Audiard's drama "Rust and Bone" (2012). According to Canet, he chose Schoenaerts after hearing Cotillard praise his performance several times. Canet and Schoenaerts even met once on the set of "Rust and Bone" when Canet visited Cotillard there.
  • Mila Kunis gained weight in preparation for the role of Natalie.
