Singam 2

Singam 2 continues the story of police officer Durai Singam, who appeared in the earlier film of the same name. After meeting with the Home Minister, he takes on an undercover assignment far from his usual posting: he poses as an NCC instructor at a school in Thoothukudi. Only the Chief Minister and the Home Minister know the operation is real. The investigation draws him into arms and drug trafficking networks that reach beyond India, and he finds that much of the local police force answers to the criminals rather than to the law. His engagement to Kavya stalls, and a student at the school, Sathya, becomes infatuated with him. The conflict sets him against a local smuggler working for a powerful crime boss and a businessman who is the one person in the city the boss treats as an equal.

Hari directed and wrote the screenplay for this action, comedy and crime film, which followed the 2010 original and preceded his 2024 film Rathnam in his directing career. Suriya returns as Durai Singam, with Anushka Shetty as Kavya, Hansika Motwani as Sathya, and Vivek, Santhanam and Danny Sapani among the credited cast of twenty-two. Prince Pictures produced the film, which runs 166 minutes and was released in July 2013.

On IMDb it holds a rating of 6.4 from around 8,200 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 5.8 from 63 votes, indicating a modest and limited response from viewers.
