Mojave

Mojave follows Thomas, a successful young artist in Los Angeles who is struggling with personal turmoil and thoughts of suicide. He travels alone into the desert to clear his head, where he encounters Jack, a drifter who seems to be his double. A conversation between the two men turns threatening, and after the situation escalates, Thomas flees. Jack, however, follows him back to Los Angeles and begins to intrude on the life Thomas has built there, forcing him to protect what matters to him.

The film was written and directed by William Monahan, his second feature as director after London Boulevard in 2010. Garrett Hedlund plays Thomas and Oscar Isaac plays Jack, with Louise Bourgoin, Walton Goggins, Mark Wahlberg and Dania Ramirez among the supporting cast. It was produced by William Green, Monahan and Aaron L. Ginsburg.

Released in 2016, the film runs 93 minutes and blends action, adventure and thriller elements. On IMDb it holds a rating of 5.2 from roughly 5,900 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 5 out of 10 from a much smaller number of votes. A critics' rating of 4.6 out of 10 from 71 reviews places it slightly below the audience score on IMDb, and both point to a modest overall reception.
