Short description
Spy follows Susan Cooper, a CIA analyst who has spent her career supporting field agents from a desk at headquarters rather than operating in the field herself. When her partner Bradley Fine is lost and another top agent is exposed, the agency has no one left who can move without being recognized, and Susan volunteers to go undercover. Her assignment is to work her way into the circle of an arms dealer, Raina Boyanov, and stop a threatened attack. Melissa McCarthy plays Susan, with Rose Byrne as Raina, Jude Law as Fine, Jason Statham as agent Rick Ford, and Miranda Hart and Allison Janney in supporting roles.
Paul Feig directed and wrote the film, which sits between The Heat and Ghostbusters in a run of comedies he made during the 2010s. It was produced by Feig, Peter Chernin and Jenno Topping through Chernin Entertainment and Feigco Entertainment, and released by 20th Century Fox.
Made for 65 million dollars, the film took in about 236 million dollars worldwide, a strong return on its budget. Audiences rate it 7 out of 10 on IMDb from roughly 273,000 votes and 6.8 out of 10 on TMDB from a much smaller pool of about 6,500 votes. A critics' rating of 7.2 out of 10 from 260 reviews places it close to, and slightly above, what general viewers gave it.

To prepare for this scene, Rose Byrne trained in a swimming pool to learn how to control her movements.
