A new megalodon rises from the ocean depths, and the world's navies are put on alert as shipping lanes empty out of fear. With no other way to confront the creature, the American government activates a secret program: a mechanical shark, built to match the monster's own abilities, with a pair of scientists at its controls. When the machine develops faults and begins attacking people instead of the shark, its pilots face a harder problem than simply winning a fight.
Mega Shark vs. Mecha Shark is a 2014 action, science fiction and thriller film from the United States, produced by The Asylum. Emile Edwin Smith directed it, working from a screenplay by Jose Prendes and H. Perry Horton, with David Michael Latt producing. Christopher Judge, Elisabeth Röhm, Debbie Gibson, Matt Lagan, Hannah Levien and Emma Rose Maloney are among the main cast; the production credits 132 cast members and 103 crew members. It runs 86 minutes and is the first of the two films Smith has directed, ahead of Ice Sharks in 2016.
The film has drawn little enthusiasm from viewers. On IMDb it holds a rating of 2.6 out of 10 from around 3,600 votes, and on TMDB it sits at 3.9 out of 10 from 138 votes, a small sample by comparison. Both figures place the film firmly at the low end of audience approval.
