Crazy Heart

Bad Blake is a country singer whose best years are behind him. At 57, he spends his time travelling from one small venue to the next, playing old hits in bars and bowling alleys while his remaining fame slowly fades. His career has also left him with several failed marriages and a serious drinking problem. A booking as the opening act for Tommy Sweet, a former protégé who has become a star, offers a small step back toward relevance. Around the same time, Bad meets Jean Craddock, a local journalist who interviews him and sees the man behind the musician. She is a divorced mother raising a young son, and although she has reason to be cautious about a relationship with him, the two keep returning to each other. Bad begins to consider whether he can change his life, though he struggles to take care of anyone, including himself.

Crazy Heart is a 2009 American drama directed by Scott Cooper, who also wrote the screenplay and produced alongside Robert Duvall and T Bone Burnett. Jeff Bridges plays Bad Blake, with Maggie Gyllenhaal as Jean, Colin Farrell as Tommy Sweet, and Duvall as Wayne, among a credited cast of 26.
