Torrente 5: Operation Eurovegas is a Spanish action comedy about José Luis Torrente, a corrupt former policeman who leaves prison in 2018 and finds a Spain very different from the one he remembered. Puzzled by a divided country, he decides to work outside the law and sets his sights on robbing a casino. Through a contact from his prison days, he tracks down John Marshall, who oversaw security planning for the main Eurovegas casino-hotel, and Marshall lays out what a heist would require. Torrente then takes on the task of assembling a crew of specialists from among his own dubious contacts.
The film is directed and written by Santiago Segura, who also plays the lead role. It was the fifth of the thirteen films he has directed, following Torrente 3: The Protector and preceding Father There Is Only One. María Luisa Gutiérrez produced alongside Segura. The cast includes Julián López, Jesulín de Ubrique, Fernando Esteso, Carlos Areces and Angy Fernández, with dozens of further credited cast and crew.
Made for about 9 million dollars, it took roughly 14 million dollars worldwide. On IMDb it holds 5.4 from around 5,000 votes, and on TMDB 5.7 from 232 votes, placing the two broadly in line with each other.
