Short description
According to Greta is a 2009 American drama with romantic elements, directed by Nancy Bardawil from a screenplay by Michael Gilvary. Hilary Duff plays Greta, a sharp-tongued and self-destructive teenager whose mother, Karen, played by Melissa Leo, sends her away for the summer. Greta ends up with her grandparents, Katherine and Joseph, played by Ellen Burstyn and Michael Murphy, in a small town on the New Jersey shore, where she takes a job waiting tables at a local restaurant. The arrangement unsettles the couple's settled routine, and the film follows Greta as she struggles with her feelings of being unwanted and with her troubled relationship to her mother, while a summer romance with Julie, a young cook played by Evan Ross, gradually draws her out of her withdrawal.
