John "Falcon" Chapman, a former US Marine living with post-traumatic stress disorder, learns that his sister has been brutally attacked while working in Brazil. He travels to São Paulo to find those responsible, and his search draws him into the city's criminal underworld, where drug trafficking, prostitution and corrupt police are tied to an organized syndicate.
The film is directed by Ernie Barbarash, the seventh of the eighteen features he has directed to date, following 6 Bullets and preceding Pound of Flesh. Y.T. Parazi wrote the screenplay, and the producers are Ernst Etchie Stroh and Shahar Stroh. Michael Jai White plays Chapman, with Neal McDonough as Manny Ridley, Laila Ali as Cindy Chapman, Hazuki Kato as Tomoe, Masashi Odate as Hirimoto and Millie Ruperto as Katarina Da' Silva among a credited cast of twenty-three. Made for about 5 million US dollars, it runs 103 minutes.
On IMDb the film holds 5.8 out of 10 from roughly 9,900 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 6.3 out of 10 from around 395 votes. A critics' rating of 5.5 out of 10 from seven reviews places it close to the audience scores on both platforms, suggesting a modest reception rather than a sharply divided one.
