Beyond Skyline

Beyond Skyline follows Los Angeles detective Mark, who is arranging bail for his son Trent when an alien attack begins. People across the city are drawn upward into a vast spacecraft, and Trent is among those taken. Mark manages to get aboard the ship himself and free several captives before it comes down in Southeast Asia, where survivors and local fighters join forces against the invaders.

The film is Liam O'Donnell's first as director, and he also wrote the screenplay. Frank Grillo plays Mark, with Bojana Novaković as Audrey, Iko Uwais and Yayan Ruhian among the fighters, Callan Mulvey and Pamelyn Chee in supporting roles. It is a sequel to Skyline, and O'Donnell went on to direct Skylines and Alphas. Made for about 14 million dollars by companies from several countries, it runs 105 minutes.

It sits in the middle of O'Donnell's small filmography, between a sequel he later directed and a more recent feature, and its cast draws on martial arts performers alongside its lead. On TMDB it holds a rating of 5.3 from roughly 1,100 votes.
