Short description
American Pie 2 follows Jim, Kevin, Oz, Finch and Stifler as they finish their first year of college and reunite for the summer. They rent a beach house on Lake Michigan, hoping to make it a summer to remember, but the getaway soon runs into trouble: the money is tight, Stifler's parties keep getting shut down by the police, and the group's romantic lives are more complicated than they expected. Jim looks to Michelle for help improving his love life, Kevin struggles with his feelings for Vicky, Oz is separated from Heather by her studies abroad, and Finch throws himself into tantric practice. The friends gradually realise that they have all changed during their year apart.
The film is a comedy directed by J.B. Rogers, his first feature, followed by Say It Isn't So the same year and Demoted a decade later. Adam Herz wrote the screenplay, and Chris Moore, Craig Perry and Warren Zide produced. Jason Biggs, Thomas Ian Nicholas, Chris Klein, Seann William Scott, Eddie Kaye Thomas and Alyson Hannigan lead a large credited cast and crew.
Made for 30 million USD, the film took about 288 million USD worldwide. On IMDb it holds 6.5/10 from roughly 286,000 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 6.3/10 from around 5,400 votes. A critics' rating of 6/10 from 125 reviews is close to the audience scores, suggesting a similar reception on both sides.

- The 'lesbian' house is actually located across the street from the house where filming took place for 'Ferris Bueller's Day Off'.
- Fearing typecasting, Shannon Elizabeth refused to perform nude scenes for the sequel.
- Bill Paxton was originally supposed to play Stifler's dad, but he had to leave the project due to scheduling conflicts.
- If you look closely, you can notice that in the scene where Jim walked on the 'roof' of the first floor of their lake house (when his hand stuck to 'himself'), it's not the same house where they spend most of the film's scenes. More precisely, it's not the same angle and, 'during the day,' the house with the neighbors who called the police is not visible.
