Bazil works in a Paris video shop and is standing in its doorway when a stray bullet strikes him in the head. Surgeons decide the bullet is too dangerous to remove, so he leaves hospital with the round still lodged in his skull, losing both his job and his home. He is taken in by a group of resourceful outcasts who live among salvage in a cavernous junk heap, and among them he finds companionship, including with a remarkably flexible woman known as Rubber Girl.

Bazil's misfortunes with weapons began earlier: his father was killed by a landmine in the Sahara when Bazil was a child. When he later recognizes the logos of two large arms manufacturers, he and his new friends set out to take on the companies he holds responsible for his troubles.

Jean-Pierre Jeunet directed and co-wrote the film with Guillaume Laurant, and it followed A Very Long Engagement in his filmography. Dany Boon leads a cast that includes Dominique Pinon, André Dussollier, Jean-Pierre Marielle, Julie Ferrier and Yolande Moreau. Made for a budget of about 33 million USD, it returned roughly 14 million USD worldwide. On IMDb it holds 7.1/10 from around 32,000 votes, on TMDB 6.6/10 from 686 votes, and a film critics' rating of 6.8/10 from 143 reviews.
