Vice Academy follows two women training at a police academy who hope to join the Hollywood vice squad, the unit handling morality and sex-related crime in the area. Their training takes a practical turn when the pair are sent undercover, first to infiltrate a pornography operation and later to work their way inside a prostitution ring run by a figure known as Queen Bee.
The film is a low-budget action comedy directed, written and produced by Rick Sloane, his second feature after Hobgoblins the previous year. Linnea Quigley plays Didi and Ginger Lynn Allen plays Holly, with Karen Russell as Shawnee, Jayne Hamil as Miss Devonshire, Ken Abraham as Dwayne and Stephen Steward as Chucky Long among a credited cast of 41. It runs 90 minutes and was released in the United States in June 1989. Ratings are modest: on IMDb it sits at 4.3 out of 10 from around 1,100 votes, and on TMDB at 4.5 out of 10 from a much smaller sample of 36, indicating a small but somewhat more favourable viewer response there. The film later became the first entry in a series of Vice Academy titles.
