Inside Men follows Ahn Sang-goo, a gangster who carries out dirty work for powerful figures in South Korean politics and business. He trusts Lee Kang-hee, the editor of an influential conservative newspaper who is promoting congressman Jang Pil-woo as a presidential candidate, with the backing of a major car corporation. When Ahn tries to use compromising documents about Jang's secret accounts, he is caught, brutally punished and discarded. Determined to take revenge, he joins forces with Woo Jang-hoon, an ambitious prosecutor without connections, to expose the collusion between the politician, the editor and their corporate sponsor.
The film was directed and written by Woo Min-ho, the earliest of the four features he has directed, followed by The Drug King, The Man Standing Next and Harbin. Lee Byung-hun plays Ahn, with Cho Seung-woo as Woo, Baek Yoon-sik as Lee and Lee Kyung-young as Jang. Kim Hong-pa and Lee El also appear among the 33 credited cast members. Produced by Lee Min-su for Hive Media Corp and Showbox, it is a Korean crime drama running 181 minutes.
Released in November 2015, the film took about 62 million US dollars worldwide, a strong result for a Korean production of its kind. On IMDb it holds a rating of 7 out of 10 from roughly 4,600 votes, and on TMDB a rating of 7 out of 10 from about 149 votes, indicating solid approval from both larger and smaller voting groups.
