The Love Letter is a romantic comedy set in the quiet New England town of Loblolly. The arrival of an anonymous, passionate love letter disrupts the community as the missive passes through various hands. This discovery encourages the residents to view one another with new interest and leads to several misunderstandings. Helen, a local bookstore owner, becomes determined to identify the author of the letter. Her search brings her closer to two very different men: George, a friend from her childhood, and Johnny, a younger man in her current life.
Directed by Peter Chan, this project was his second film following Comrades, Almost a Love Story. The movie stars Kate Capshaw, Blythe Danner, Ellen DeGeneres, Geraldine McEwan, Julianne Nicholson, and Tom Everett Scott.
