Deathgasm

Deathgasm follows Brodie, a teenage outcast who moves to the small town of Greypoint after his mother is institutionalized. Living with his devout uncle and clashing with his cousin David, Brodie finds a kindred spirit in Zakk, a fellow heavy metal fan, and the two form a black metal band called Deathgasm. When they come across ancient sheet music and perform it, they accidentally unleash an ancient evil entity and a wave of demonic possession on their town. Instead of chasing stardom, the friends must fight to survive.

Written and directed by Jason Lei Howden, this 2015 New Zealand production was his first feature, followed by Guns Akimbo in 2020 and Deathgasm 2: Goremageddon in 2026. Milo Cawthorne plays Brodie, with Kimberley Crossman, Sam Berkley, Delaney Tabron, Colin Moy and Jodie Rimmer among the cast. The film runs 86 minutes and blends comedy, horror and music.

On IMDb, the film holds a critics' rating of 7.1/10 from 34 reviews. On TMDB, it has a rating of 6.3/10 from 665 votes, indicating a moderate audience response.
