Four astronauts agree to spend 400 days sealed inside a landlocked simulator, a mock spacecraft on a simulated journey toward a distant planet. Their mental state is meant to be the real subject: a long isolation study on how people hold up when cut off from the outside world. Contact with the control centre breaks down and strange events accumulate, and the crew are eventually forced to leave the simulator. Outside, they find that the world is not what they left, and they cannot be sure whether the isolation ever ended or whether what they are seeing is real.
Matt Osterman directed and wrote the film, with Gabriel Cowan and John Suits producing for New Artists Alliance. It runs 91 minutes across mystery, science fiction and thriller territory, with a credited cast of thirty led by Brandon Routh, Caity Lotz, Dane Cook, Ben Feldman, Tom Cavanagh and Grant Bowler.
The film opened in October 2015. It sits at 4.4 out of 10 on TMDB from 517 votes, and critics rated it 4.2 out of 10 across nine reviews, leaving critics and audiences closely aligned: both groups received it coolly.
