Tomb Raider

Lara Croft is the independent-minded daughter of an adventurer who vanished seven years earlier. Now twenty-one, she lives in London as a bike courier and student, scraping together rent money while refusing to take charge of her father's global business empire. Convinced he is still alive, she sets out to trace his last known movements, which lead to a small island off the coast of Japan and a legendary tomb he had been investigating. Once there, she faces dangers that force her to rely on her wits and willpower to survive.

The film stars Alicia Vikander as Lara, with Dominic West as her father Richard, Walton Goggins as Mathias Vogel, Daniel Wu as Lu Ren, Kristin Scott Thomas as Ana Miller and Derek Jacobi as Mr. Yaffe. It was directed by Roar Uthaug, whose earlier features were Cold Prey, Escape and The Wave; he went on to direct Troll and Troll 2. The screenplay is by Alastair Siddons and Geneva Robertson-Dworet, and Graham King produced.

Made for a budget of about 94 million US dollars, the film took roughly 275 million dollars worldwide. On IMDb it holds 6.3 out of 10 from around 241,000 votes, and on TMDB 6.4 out of 10 from 8,521 votes. A film critics' rating of 5.5 out of 10 from 326 reviews places it below both audience scores. It runs 118 minutes and was released in March 2018.
