Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping

Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping follows Conner Friel, a pop and rap superstar known as Conner4Real, whose career unravels when his new solo album sells poorly. As his fame and lifestyle come under threat, he searches for a way back to the top, while avoiding the one option he resists: reuniting with the Style Boyz, the group he once formed with two childhood friends. His manager, publicist and entourage try to keep him afloat as his standing in the music business slips.

The film is a comedy from 2016 directed by Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone, who also wrote it with Andy Samberg. The three had worked together as the Lonely Island comedy trio, and the film sits between Schaffer's An SNL Valentine and The Lonely Island Presents: The Unauthorized Bash Brothers Experience, and between Taccone's MacGruber and Over Your Dead Body. Samberg plays Conner, with Taccone and Schaffer as his former bandmates, and Sarah Silverman, Tim Meadows and Maya Rudolph among the supporting cast. Judd Apatow and Rodney Rothman produced.

Made for about 20 million US dollars, the film earned roughly half that amount worldwide. On IMDb it holds 6.7 out of 10 from over 66,000 votes, and on TMDB 6.6 out of 10 from more than 1,400 votes. A critics' rating of 6.7 out of 10 from 173 reviews places it close to the audience scores.
