The Limehouse Golem

In Victorian London in 1880, a string of brutal killings terrorizes the impoverished district of Limehouse. The murders are so savage that residents come to believe no human could be responsible, and suspicion falls on the Golem, a clay figure from Jewish folklore said to be brought to life through magic. As panic spreads, the police assign Inspector John Kildare to the case. Kildare's inquiries bring him into contact with the local music hall run by Dan Leno and with the actress Elizabeth Cree, who stands accused of poisoning her husband.

The film is a British production directed by Juan Carlos Medina, following his 2012 debut Painless and preceding The Chase in 2024. Jane Goldman wrote the screenplay, and the cast is led by Bill Nighy as Kildare, with Olivia Cooke, Douglas Booth, Daniel Mays, Sam Reid and María Valverde in supporting roles. The production credits 54 cast members and 76 crew members.

Released in 2016, the film earned about 2 million dollars worldwide. It holds a 6.3 rating from roughly 25,000 votes on IMDb and a 6.2 from around 754 votes on TMDB, while critics gave it 6.5 from 77 reviews, placing the two audience measures slightly below the critical one.
