Big Mommas: Like Father, Like Son

Malcolm Turner, an FBI agent, returns to the disguise he has used before, this time with an accomplice. His son Trent witnesses a murder and becomes a target, so the two go into hiding at a girls' performing arts school. Malcolm poses as the large, outspoken Big Momma while Trent masquerades as a student named Charmaine, and the pair search for the killer before he can reach Trent. For Trent, keeping his identity hidden is complicated by everyday school life and by growing feelings for a classmate.

The film is a 2011 American action comedy directed by John Whitesell, the fourth of his six features and his second entry in this series, after Big Momma's House 2. Martin Lawrence again plays Malcolm and Big Momma, with Brandon T. Jackson as Trent and Charmaine; Jessica Lucas, Portia Doubleday, Emily Rios and Ana Ortiz appear in supporting roles. Matthew Fogel wrote the screenplay, and David T. Friendly and Michael Green produced.

Made for 32 million dollars, it took about 83 million dollars worldwide. Opinions among viewers are modest: on IMDb it holds 4.5 out of 10 from roughly 31,000 votes, and on TMDB 5.5 out of 10 from about 1,300 votes. A critics' rating of 2.8 out of 10 from 61 reviews places it below even those audience scores.
