Short description

Slava Kolotilov is a provincial schoolteacher who travels to Moscow with a novel manuscript and falls in love with a local woman named Nadya. As they prepare for their wedding, Slava finds himself stranded in his hometown after a high-ranking official mistakes him for a soccer coach. With his travel documents seized, Slava is forced to lead a children's team. To explain his absence to his fiancee, he invents a series of disasters over the phone, while in Moscow, Nadya deals with a former suitor attempting to win her back.
