King Zhou of Shang has fallen under the influence of his concubine Daji, who is in truth a disguised spirit. Through her scheming he becomes a tyrant who oppresses his people, while a dark force he once welcomed into himself for the sake of power continues to consume him. Jiang Ziya, a strategist serving the kingdom of Zhou, joins Ji Fa and his army in a campaign to end the king's rule. Warriors gathering outside the city plan to free the Invisible People and their chief, and Jiang Ziya brings them word of what truly happened to their ruler. The story draws on a sixteenth-century Chinese novel.

Koan Hui directed this Hong Kong and Chinese co-production, working from a screenplay by Cherryyoko and Samson Sun. Jet Li plays Jiang Ziya, Fan Bingbing plays Daji, and the cast also includes Huang Xiaoming, Louis Koo, AngelaBaby and Jacky Heung. Charles Heung and Wilson Yip produced.

Released in July 2016, the film runs 130 minutes and cost about 38 million dollars, a large outlay for a fantasy action production. Its worldwide gross of roughly 43 million dollars fell short of that budget. On IMDb it holds a rating of 4.5 from around 3,100 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 5.7 from about 180 votes. A critics' rating of 5.7 from 13 reviews places it close to the audience score on TMDB and above the IMDb figure.
