Always: Sunset on Third Street 2

Set in Tokyo a year after the events of the first film, this comedy-drama follows the residents of Third Street. Struggling writer Ryunosuke Chagawa hopes to win the Akutagawa Prize to provide a stable future for Junnosuke, an orphan under his care. Meanwhile, the Suzuki family must adapt to the arrival of a demanding young relative, Mika, whose presence causes friction with the son of the household, Ippei. The neighborhood is further complicated by Hiromi's secret work as a dancer and various romantic tensions among the locals.

Directed by Takashi Yamazaki, this project is the first of 18 films he has directed, followed by Ballad in 2009. Yamazaki also co-wrote the screenplay with Ryota Kosawa. The ensemble cast features Hidetaka Yoshioka, Shinichi Tsutsumi, Koyuki, Maki Horikita, Hiroko Yakushimaru, and Tomokazu Miura.

The film earned 47 million USD at the worldwide box office. Audience reception has been generally positive, with a rating of 7.5/10 based on 1,200 votes on IMDb and 7.1/10 from 27 votes on TMDB.
