Cinderella

Cinderella lives as a servant in her own home, working from morning until night under the rule of a cruel stepmother and two spiteful stepsisters. When the royal family announces a ball so that Prince Christopher can meet a suitable bride, her stepmother forbids her to attend. Her despair ends when her Fairy Godmother appears and transforms her rags into a fine dress, a pumpkin into a carriage, and gives her a pair of glass slippers. At the palace, the prince is drawn to the mysterious young woman, but the magic lasts only until midnight.

This 1997 television musical, based on the classic fairy tale, was directed by Robert Iscove as the second of the five features listed for him, between the 1994 film Without Warning and 1999's She's All That. Brandy Norwood plays Cinderella, Whitney Houston appears as the Fairy Godmother, and Whoopi Goldberg and Victor Garber play Queen Constantina and King Maximillian. Bernadette Peters is the stepmother and Jason Alexander plays Lionel. The film runs 88 minutes, was made for 18 million dollars by Walt Disney Pictures and other producers, and mixes family, fantasy, music and romance.

On IMDb it holds a 6.8 rating from around 11,000 votes, while on TMDB its rating is 6.6 from a much smaller number of votes, indicating a modest but settled level of approval from viewers.
