Dabangg

Set in a small town in Uttar Pradesh, Dabangg follows Chulbul Pandey, a police officer who enforces order through unofficial and often unlawful methods while taking money on the side. His difficult upbringing, shaped by a stepfather who favoured his own son and by ongoing friction with his younger half-brother Makhanchan, pushes him toward that life. The arrival of Cheddi Singh, a local politician who deliberately worsens the rift between the two brothers, turns Chulbul's personal resentments into an open conflict. Chulbul also falls for Rajjo, a potter's daughter.

The film was released in September 2010. Abhinav Kashyap directed and wrote the screenplay, with Arbaaz Khan, Malaika Arora and Dhilin Mehta producing through Arbaaz Khan Productions and Shree Ashtavinayak Cine Vision. Salman Khan plays Chulbul, Sonakshi Sinha appears as Rajjo, and Arbaaz Khan, Sonu Sood, Vinod Khanna and Dimple Kapadia round out the main cast. It runs 130 minutes and mixes action and crime with comedy.

On IMDb it holds 6.3/10 from roughly 37,000 votes, while on TMDB its rating is 5.9/10 from 193 votes. A critics' rating of 6/10 from five reviews places it close to the audience scores. Made for about 9 million USD, the film's listed worldwide box office of 3 million USD is well below its production cost.
