American Cowslip

Set in the remote desert town of Blythe, California, this dark comedy follows Ethan Inglebrink, an eccentric man struggling with agoraphobia and heroin addiction. Obsessed with his garden, Ethan spends his final days attempting to find purpose and meaning in his life while dealing with the complications of his dependencies and personal failures.

Directed by Mark David, this was the first of two films he directed, preceding Mr. Wonderful. The screenplay was written by Mark David and Ronnie Gene Blevins. The film features a cast including Ronnie Gene Blevins in the lead role, alongside Cloris Leachman, Val Kilmer, Peter Falk, Rip Torn, and Diane Ladd.
