Out of the Dark

A residential building in Hong Kong is plagued by supernatural activity caused by spirits seeking revenge. To combat these manifestations, security guards seek the help of Leon, a ghost hunter who is a patient at a psychiatric hospital. While Leon uses unconventional methods to deal with the ghosts, he is joined by a rebellious young woman named Kwan.

Directed and written by Jeff Lau Chun-Wai, the film was released in 1995. It is one of several projects the director worked on that year, following the two parts of A Chinese Odyssey. The cast features Stephen Chow in the lead role of Leon and Karen Mok Man-Wai as Kwan, alongside Lo Hung, Wong Yat-fei, Lee Kin-Yan, and Lik-Chi Lee. The production was handled by Cosmopolitan Film Productions Co., Ltd.

The film blends elements of comedy, fantasy, and horror over a runtime of 82 minutes. It has received generally positive feedback from viewers, maintaining a rating of 6.8/10 on IMDb based on 3,200 votes and a score of 6.9/10 on TMDB from 108 votes.
