Arthur

Arthur Bach is a wealthy New York playboy whose life of parties and drinking is funded by a family fortune he does not control. When his behaviour threatens the reputation of the family business, his parents issue an ultimatum: marry the ambitious Susan Johnson, a match that would secure his inheritance, or lose the money and the lifestyle that comes with it. Arthur is willing to go along with the arrangement until he meets Naomi Quinn, a tour guide from an ordinary background, and finds himself choosing between obligation and a future he cannot buy. Hobson, the nanny who has long kept him out of trouble, remains his closest adviser as he faces the decision.

Jason Winer directed the film, his first feature after working extensively in television, from a screenplay by Peter Baynham. Russell Brand plays Arthur, with Helen Mirren as Hobson, Greta Gerwig as Naomi and Jennifer Garner as Susan. The production, backed by Warner Bros. Pictures and several partner companies, cost about 40 million US dollars and returned roughly 48 million worldwide, a modest result against its budget.

Audiences are divided on the film: on IMDb it holds 6.9/10, though from only 17 votes, while on TMDB it has 5.6/10 from more than 800 ratings. A film critics' rating of 4.4/10 from 195 reviews places it below both audience scores.
