Bridesmaids

Annie is a single woman in her thirties whose personal and professional life has fallen apart: her business has failed, her relationship ended badly, and money is tight. When her lifelong best friend Lillian gets engaged and asks her to be maid of honor, Annie sets her own troubles aside and takes on the job of organizing the wedding celebrations. She soon finds herself competing for Lillian's attention with Helen, a wealthy and socially polished member of the bridal party who seems determined to take over. Between the expensive rituals leading up to the ceremony and the tensions among the bridesmaids, Annie struggles to hold things together.

Paul Feig directed the film, his second feature after Unaccompanied Minors, working from a screenplay by Kristen Wiig and Annie Mumolo. Wiig stars as Annie, with Maya Rudolph as Lillian, Rose Byrne as Helen, Chris O'Dowd as Rhodes, Melissa McCarthy as Megan and Wendi McLendon-Covey as Rita. Judd Apatow produced through Apatow Productions alongside Relativity Media.

Released in May 2011, the comedy cost about 33 million dollars and took roughly 288 million dollars worldwide, a strong return on its budget. On IMDb it holds 6.8 out of 10 from around 324,000 votes, and on TMDB 6.5 out of 10 from about 4,800 votes. A critics' rating of 7.6 out of 10 from 292 reviews places it above both audience scores.
