Flypaper is a crime comedy set almost entirely inside a bank at closing time. Two separate groups of robbers arrive at the same branch at the same moment, each unaware of the other, and a shootout leaves customers and staff trapped between them. Tripp, a customer who came in hoping to speak with the teller Kaitlin, pulls her to the floor to keep her safe. When the building's security system seals everyone inside for the night, the standoff becomes a deadlock, and Tripp tries to mediate between the criminals while keeping the hostages alive and staying close to Kaitlin. As the night goes on, he begins to suspect that the people around him were not there by chance.
The film was directed by Rob Minkoff, appearing between The Forbidden Kingdom and Mr. Peabody & Sherman in a filmography that also includes The Lion King, two Stuart Little features and The Haunted Mansion. Jon Lucas and Scott Moore wrote the screenplay, and Patrick Dempsey, who plays Tripp, served as a producer alongside Mark Damon and Peter Safran. Ashley Judd plays Kaitlin, with Tim Blake Nelson, Mekhi Phifer, Matt Ryan and Jeffrey Tambor among a credited cast of 24.
Made for about 5 million dollars, it took roughly 4 million at the worldwide box office. On IMDb it holds 6.3 out of 10 from around 35,000 votes; on TMDB it has 6.4 from about 820 votes. A critics' rating of 4.3 out of 10 from 20 reviews puts it well below the audience scores.
