In 2043, a powerful crime boss known as the General is facing trial, and the official prosecuting him intends to put him behind bars. To stop this, the General sends three of his henchmen back to 1993 to eliminate the official while he is still a young student. A group of law enforcers from the future learns of the plan and follows them into the past to protect the boy, only to discover that their target is an ordinary, unremarkable teenager. The two sides clash repeatedly as the officers try to shield him from the killers.
Wong Jing directed and wrote this Hong Kong action comedy, which blends time travel with martial arts and broad humor. It was his fourteenth film as director in chronological order, arriving between Kung Fu Cult Master and Hail the Judge. The cast includes Andy Lau, Jacky Cheung, Simon Yam, Chingmy Yau, Dicky Cheung Wai-Kin and Aaron Kwok among twenty-two credited performers.
Made by Orange Sky Golden Harvest and released in mid-1993, the film runs about ninety-five minutes. It holds a rating of 6 out of 10 on IMDb from roughly 1,800 votes, and 6.1 out of 10 on TMDB from a much smaller pool of 72 votes. Those modest, closely matched scores suggest a middling reception from audiences, with the larger IMDb sample giving the more dependable picture.
