Trance

Simon works at an auction house that deals in valuable art, and he becomes involved with Franck's criminal crew in a plan to steal a painting worth millions. The robbery goes wrong when Simon is struck on the head, and he wakes with no memory of where he hid the artwork. Threats and violence get Franck nothing, so he brings in Elizabeth, a hypnotherapist, to search Simon's damaged mind for the answer. As her sessions go deeper, the line between what is real and what is imagined becomes difficult to draw.

Danny Boyle directed Trance, the eleventh of the seventeen films he has directed in chronological order, arriving between 127 Hours and Steve Jobs. John Hodge and Joe Ahearne wrote the screenplay, and Boyle produced with Christian Colson. James McAvoy plays Simon, with Vincent Cassel as Franck and Rosario Dawson as Elizabeth; Danny Sapani, Matt Cross and Wahab Sheikh appear among the twenty-one credited cast members.

The film was released in 2013 and runs 101 minutes. It was made for about 20 million dollars and took roughly 24 million dollars worldwide. On IMDb it holds 6.9 out of 10 from around 121,000 votes, while on TMDB it has 6.6 out of 10 from about 2,420 votes.
