Overheard 2

Overheard 2 centres on three men whose lives become entangled in Hong Kong's financial world. Manson Law is a prominent stockbroker whose car crash draws police attention when a military-grade surveillance device is found in the wreckage. Inspector Jack Ho leads the investigation into what the device was doing there. Meanwhile Joe Szema, who works in wiretapping, is pursuing his own plan aimed at a shadowy financial conglomerate known as the Landlord Club. Their paths converge in a contest of observation and counter-observation whose consequences reach the stock market itself.

The film is the second entry in the Overheard series and reunited directors Felix Chong Man-keung and Alan Mak, who also wrote the screenplay together. It followed their earlier collaboration Overheard and their adaptation of historical material in The Lost Bladesman, both released in 2009 and 2011 respectively, and preceded their later work on Project Gutenberg and The Goldfinger. Louis Koo plays Jack Ho, Lau Ching-wan plays Manson Law and Daniel Wu plays Joe Szema, with Michelle Ye Xuan, Huang Yi and Kenneth Tsang also appearing. Shi Nansun produced, and the picture runs 121 minutes.

Made for about 8 million dollars, the film returned roughly 4 million dollars worldwide. On IMDb it holds 6.7 out of 10 across around 2,100 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 6.5 out of 10 from a much smaller group of 88 votes.
