Toothless

Katherine Lewis is a dentist who dies in an accident and finds herself in a waiting place between heaven and hell, where a stern supervisor named Rogers assigns her a task of atonement: she must return to the world of the living and serve as the Tooth Fairy, collecting the baby teeth children lose. Only children can see her, and she is meant to comfort them rather than interfere in their lives, a rule her stubborn nature makes difficult to keep. Her situation grows more complicated when she befriends Bobby, a boy as headstrong as she is.

The 1997 comedy Toothless was directed by Melanie Mayron, the second of the four features she directed, following The Baby-Sitters Club and preceding Mean Girls 2 and Snapshots. Mark Kaufman wrote the screenplay, Joan Van Horn produced, and the large credited cast of twenty-six is led by Kirstie Alley as Katherine, Ross Malinger as Bobby, Dale Midkiff as Thomas Jameson, Lynn Redgrave as Rogers, Daryl Mitchell as Raul and Marcus Toji as Trevor. It was made in the United States by Mandeville Films and Disney Branded Television.

The film runs 92 minutes. On IMDb it holds a rating of 5.9 from around 2,500 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 5.5 from a much smaller base of roughly 45 votes, a gap that says more about how few people have rated it there than about any real disagreement.
