Short description
Flight 7500 follows the passengers of a Vista Pacific overnight flight from Los Angeles to Tokyo as it crosses the Pacific Ocean. Among those on board are married couple Brad and Pia Martin, travelling with friends, and flight attendants Laura Baxter and Suzy Lee. The long journey takes a disturbing turn when the aircraft encounters what seems to be a supernatural presence in the cabin, and a passenger dies. Trapped in the confined space high above the ocean, the people on board find themselves facing a force they cannot explain.
The film is a horror mystery thriller directed by Takashi Shimizu, working from a screenplay by Craig Rosenberg. It is the eleventh of the twenty films Shimizu has directed in chronological order, arriving between Kiki's Delivery Service and Howling Village. The cast includes Leslie Bibb, Jamie Chung, Jerry Ferrara, Ryan Kwanten, Amy Smart and Scout Taylor-Compton. It was produced by Takashige Ichise and Roy Lee, with Vertigo Entertainment, CBS Films and Ozla Pictures among the production companies, and it runs seventy-nine minutes.
Flight 7500 was released in 2014. On TMDB it holds a rating of 4.9 out of 10 based on 624 votes, which places the audience response at a modest level.
What's left behind the scenes
- In the film, when the pressure dropped on board the aircraft, water bottles in the characters' hands began to compress; in reality, they would have expanded.
- The film was originally scheduled for release on August 31, 2012, but the premiere was delayed due to funding problems at the studio.
- At the end of the film, a newsreader on television states that the plane will crash into the Pacific Ocean when it runs out of fuel. In reality, an aircraft flying from Los Angeles to Tokyo is fueled with enough fuel to reach China or Russia.
