Lauren Powell and Katie Steel were never friends in college, but as they approach thirty they end up sharing an apartment in New York City, one of them having lost a relationship and the other her rent-controlled place. Their arrangement is tense until Lauren learns how Katie earns money: phone sex. Seeing an opportunity, the two go into business together, with Lauren handling the organization and Katie providing the voice. The venture becomes far more lucrative than either expected, and the women begin to reconsider what they want from their lives.
