The Truth About Cats & Dogs

Abby is a veterinarian who hosts a radio call-in show about animals, where she offers practical advice to pet owners. Although she is knowledgeable and witty on the air, she feels insecure about her appearance and is convinced that men overlook her in favour of her glamorous neighbour Noelle, a model. When Brian, a photographer who called into her programme, becomes smitten with her voice and asks to meet, Abby panics and sends Noelle to pose as her. Brian soon senses that something does not add up, and the deception becomes difficult to maintain.

The Truth About Cats & Dogs is a 1996 American romantic comedy directed by Michael Lehmann from a screenplay by Audrey Wells. It was Lehmann's fourth feature, following Heathers, Hudson Hawk and Airheads in that order. Janeane Garofalo plays Abby, Uma Thurman plays Noelle and Ben Chaplin plays Brian, with Jamie Foxx among the supporting cast.
