The Heartbreak Kid

Eddie Cantrow is a bachelor who has spent years looking for the right woman, and when he meets the beautiful Lila he decides not to let her get away, marrying her after only a short time together. His father and his best friend encourage the match. On the honeymoon in Mexico, however, Lila's behaviour turns out to be nothing like what Eddie expected, and he begins to regret how quickly he committed. At the same time he meets Miranda, who seems far better suited to him, leaving him to work out how to pursue her while his new wife remains nearby.

The Heartbreak Kid is a comedy directed by Bobby Farrelly and Peter Farrelly, their eighth and ninth films respectively as directors and their first after Fever Pitch in 2005; they also wrote the screenplay with Leslie Dixon. Ben Stiller plays Eddie, with Malin Åkerman as Lila, Michelle Monaghan as Miranda and Jerry Stiller as Doc.

Made for around 60 million dollars, the film took about 128 million dollars worldwide. Audiences rate it 5.9 out of 10 on IMDb from roughly 101,000 votes and 5.8 out of 10 on TMDB, while the critics' rating stands at 4.9 out of 10 from 157 reviews, so it fared somewhat worse with critics than with viewers.
