My Mom's New Boyfriend

After spending years away from home on assignment, young FBI agent Henry Durand returns to find that his mother, Marty, has transformed herself. Once overweight and withdrawn, she has embraced a new social life with enthusiasm, and Henry is uncomfortable watching her pursue romances. His unease turns into a professional problem when she takes up with Tommy, a charming stranger who is really an international art thief. Henry's superiors assign him to lead the surveillance on Tommy, forcing him to investigate the man his mother has fallen for while keeping her in the dark.

George Gallo directed and wrote the screenplay, his fourth feature as director following 29th Street, Trapped in Paradise and Double Take. Meg Ryan plays Marty and Antonio Banderas plays Tommy, with Colin Hanks as Henry and Selma Blair as his fellow agent Emily Lott. The film was produced by Avi Lerner, Julie Lott and Richard Salvatore for a budget of 25 million dollars, and it took in about 8 million dollars worldwide, a fraction of its cost.
