Adam, a musician in the rising electro-pop duo The Make, arrives at a Scottish music festival and quickly falls into an argument with Morello, the singer of an all-female punk band, The Dirty Pinks. A passing preacher handcuffs the two of them together in the name of love and disappears with the key, leaving the pair stuck as a single unit for twenty-four hours at the T in the Park festival. Unable to separate, they have to negotiate everyday needs, their respective partners and their scheduled performances while their mutual irritation slowly gives way to something else.
You Instead is a British comedy directed by David Mackenzie and released in 2011. It arrived between Perfect Sense and Starred Up in a run of films that also includes Young Adam, Asylum, Hallam Foe and Spread. Luke Treadaway plays Adam and Natalia Tena plays Morello, with Mathew Baynton, Ruta Gedmintas, Sophie Wu and Rebecca Benson in supporting roles. The film runs eighty minutes. On TMDB it holds a rating of 6.5 out of 10 from 96 votes, which suggests a modest audience response rather than a widely embraced one. Shot against the backdrop of a real British festival, it belongs to the same year as Perfect Sense in Mackenzie's filmography.
