Vampire in Brooklyn

Vampire in Brooklyn follows Maximillian, a Caribbean vampire who arrives in New York in search of a partner. He believes that detective Rita Veder is the woman he needs, though she is unaware of her own vampire heritage and is occupied with a case involving a ship found adrift with its crew dead. Maximillian, who takes on additional disguises over the course of the story, pursues Rita while she investigates the deaths, and her colleague Detective Justice also takes an interest in her.

Wes Craven directed the film, the sixteenth of the twenty-five features he made. It followed Wes Craven's New Nightmare and preceded Scream. Eddie Murphy produced through his company and stars alongside Angela Bassett as Rita; the cast also includes Allen Payne, Kadeem Hardison, John Witherspoon and Zakes Mokae. The screenplay is credited to Charlie Murphy, Michael Lucker and Chris Parker.

Made for about 14 million dollars, the film took in roughly 20 million worldwide. On IMDb it holds a rating of 4.7 from around 27,000 votes, and on TMDB 5.1 from 659 votes. A critics' rating of 4 out of 10 from 36 reviews places it slightly below the audience scores, and points to a generally unfavorable reception at the time of its release.
