The House Bunny

Shelley has spent her life at the Playboy Mansion, where she is a bunny, until a rival arranges for her removal. Left without a home at twenty-seven, she is taken in by the seven awkward members of the Zeta Alpha Zeta sorority, who are struggling to recruit new pledges. If they fail, they will lose their house to a more glamorous rival sorority. Shelley offers to coach them in makeup and in dealing with men, while the Zetas show her something she has never had: a sense of herself as an individual. Anna Faris plays Shelley, with Colin Hanks, Emma Stone, Kat Dennings, Christopher McDonald and Hugh Hefner among the cast.

The film was released in 2008 and runs 97 minutes. It was directed by Fred Wolf, from a screenplay by Karen McCullah and Kirsten Smith, and produced by Adam Sandler, Allen Covert and Jack Giarraputo. It is the earliest of the six features Wolf directed, ahead of Strange Wilderness, which opened the same year, and later titles such as Joe Dirt 2: Beautiful Loser, Mad Families, Drunk Parents and 40-Love. Made for 25 million dollars, it took about 70 million dollars worldwide, a solid return.

On IMDb it holds 5.6 out of 10 from roughly 96,000 votes, and on TMDB 5.7 out of 10 from about 2,000 votes. A critics' rating of 5.1 out of 10 from 123 reviews places it slightly below the audience scores. The two audience ratings sit close together, pointing to a mild, consistent response rather than a sharply divided one.
