Short description

Set in Greece in 1962, the film follows Rydal, a young American scraping by as a tour guide in Athens, who becomes fascinated by an elegant older couple he meets among the ruins: Chester MacFarland and his wife Colette. The impression of wealth and ease is misleading, and when Rydal is drawn into their problems, he agrees to help them dispose of a body. That decision pulls all three into a web of suspicion and pursuit.

The thriller was directed by Hossein Amini, who also wrote the screenplay, working from Patricia Highsmith's novel. It was produced by Tom Sternberg, Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner, and stars Viggo Mortensen, Kirsten Dunst and Oscar Isaac, with Daisy Bevan, David Warshofsky and Omiros Poulakis among a credited cast of thirty-four. It runs 96 minutes.

Released in May 2014, the film took in about 5 million dollars worldwide, a modest return. On TMDB it holds a rating of 5.8 out of 10 from 751 votes, indicating a largely mixed response from viewers.
